Dark Earth #1

Study of the undulating and black peat bogs that have formed in areas of the Lake District's Caldbeck fells. This piece was inspired by the movement of light and shadow on the ground after a fall of soft snow which was already melting as I found a path through to my destination. The light reflecting properties of the  gloss and matt paints and the shadows created by the individually rolled clay elements represent the movement of shadow and light on the landscape.
